Justin here – the much taller, only slightly younger (in case Steve reads this), two thirds legs physio at Crest Health Physiotherapy Yanchep and Butler.
With Steve stealing all the limelight last year with his superb effort in coming 3rd in the World Amateur Sprint Triathlon Championships for his age group, I thought it was high time I get amongst it and achieve something of note.
That’s why I would like to share with all of you wonderful patients my fitness goal for 2019.
I am going to run a marathon, perhaps 2!
I have run the City 2 Surf Marathon back in 2017 with a time of 3 hours and 46 minutes. I’ve been told that it’s not too shabby for a first timer. However, I am extremely competitive when it comes to sport and running in particular – just ask my poor girlfriend who has now given up asking me to go for a run with her. So this time comes with a disclaimer – I was carrying an injury into the race known as Iliotibial Band Syndrome or ITBS.
That’s why I am now determined to run at least another one this year. Hopefully I am older and wiser (fingers crossed).
My goal time is to do it quicker than 2 hours and 58 minutes. Why that time you ask? Because that’s Steve’s marathon PB. Competitive side coming out again!
Over the course of the next few months keep an eye out on our blog here and on our Facebook and Instagram pages – Crest Health (hyperlink) and Crest Health Physiotherapy Butler (hyperlink) on Facebook; and cresthealthphysio (hyperlink) on Instagram – to keep up to date with my training progress, for handy hints for anyone else embarking on running training and of course to wish me luck.
Steve’s hard at work at the moment fine tuning my training prep to ensure I achieve my optimal result.
Bring it on!
Until next time,
